We are relatives of Berenice Woodhouse and really enjoyed Ezma the many times they joined us for Christmas in Redding and Yuba City from the 1960s onward. In 2012 she wrote us "I am thankful for being part of the Fairlee family." We were thankful of being related to Ezma too.

Miss Ezma Rucker was my Eighth grade English teacher in 1962, and she remained
an important influence in my life until her passing. In 2014 we were reflecting on
her teaching career. She shared that when an opportunity to serve arose she always
felt that she "could do one more thing."
Ez also served as a docent for the Chinese Temple in Oroville and attended
St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Oroville.

I grew up in Oroville, attending Central School. Miss Rucker was one of my all-time favorite teachers. She was a tough teacher, expecting the best, thus bringing out the best in her students. While attending Central, I decided I wanted to be a teacher. Miss Rucker was a huge influence for me in reaching my goals, in my junior high, high school, and college education, and, finally, in my teaching career. I was a tough teacher, too, but well respected by children, parents, and colleagues...like Miss Rucker; I learned from the best.
My successes and my happiness are, in such a large part, due to wonderful Miss Rucker. Thank you so much for all you did for your many students. This is truly a fine legacy.
May her family and friends take joy in your fond memories of this fine lady.
