Obituary of Gary Quilici

His Legacy…Gary L. Quilici of Oroville, California, passed away on May 27, 2017, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born in Yerington, Nevada on April 20, 1944 to Frank and Sandrina Quilici. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno where he majored in business management. He married Judy King in 1967. Gary and Judy reached their golden milestone in February this year celebrating 50 years of marriage. They have two sons, Tony Quilici of Chico, and Joe Quilici of Willows. Gary was a hard-working, fun-loving family man who enjoyed success in multiple business ventures. He began his career as a controller and general manager of Centex Corp (Mathews Ready Mix), but, left the company in 1977 to open the Depot Restaurant in Oroville. He led the restaurant to 28-years of success before selling to pursue his dream and then hobby of winemaking. In 1998 he planted a vineyard of 5,000 vines in the Oroville foothills which turned into Quilici Vineyards & Winery. Gary never met a stranger, always enjoyed a game of cribbage or liars dice, and loved spending time fishing. Gary was a proud past and present member of Fellows Club, The Sons of Italy, Single Malt, Eagles F.O.E. 196, Sunrise Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Masons #103, Lake Oroville Fish Enhancement, and UNR Sundowners. He created and organized the annual Depot Charity Golf Tournament which helped raise money for youth sports. He also served in the Army National Guard. His Family…He leaves his beloved wife, Judy, his sons Tony and Joe, brother Roy of Sparks Nevada, and five grandchildren as well as his extended family near Lucca, Italy and Melbourne, Australia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sandrina, and father, Frank. His Farewell Service… A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Oroville Nazarene Church.
