Obituary of Terry Richard McAfee

Terry R. McAfee, 37, passed away September 15, 2024, in Oroville, California. He was born July 7, 1987, in Arcata, CA, the youngest child of Terry L. and Karen McAfee.

He was a longtime resident of Gridley, and graduated Gridley High School class of 2005. He graduated from Chico State. He was active in the Upward Bound program during his High School and college years. He then went on to complete his education at North Carolina State University with a PHD. He was a senior scientific engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkely, California. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Terry L. McAfee.

Terry is survived by his Mother Karen McAfee of Oroville; siblings: Glenn Green (Katie) of Knoxville, TN, Stacy Penn of Chico, CA, and Chris Green of Sutter, CA; nephews: Johnathan (Kayla) Penn of Chico, Christopher Green of Sutter, Alex Green, and Ayden Green both of Knoxville, TN; his niece Hailey Green of Sutter and one great-niece Nevaeh Penn of Chico.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on October 26, 2024 from 11-2 at the Jacinto Grange, 7254 County Rd 39, Glenn, CA. Contributions may be made to Chico State Upward Bound Program in Terry’s honor.
