Obituary of Don Coburn Smith

A private family service will be held at a later date for Donald Coburn Smith, 84 of Biggs CA. He passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his residence of natural causes. Donald was born, one of seven children, born to Lloyd and Roberta Smith, on August 30, 1931 in Gridley CA. He was a lifelong resident of Butte County, having worked as a retail lumber manager for Diamond International Incorporated. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building model A’s, traveling with the model A Clubs and spending quality time with family and friends. He was a member of the Golden Feather “A” Model A Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joycelyn Smith, two brothers, Bob Smith, Gene Smith and one sister, Shirley Cox. He is survived by two sons, Gary (Diane) Smith of Richvale CA, Bruce (Linda) Smith of Woodland CA, two daughters, Lauren (Jim) Thengvall of Richvale CA, Lisé (Dany) Daniels of Biggs CA, one brother Neal Smith of Cherokee CA, two sisters, Nell Farr of Yuba City, CA, Janet Smith of Arlington VA, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests contributions to the local VFW, Crohns and Colitis Foundation and the American Heart and Lung Association. Inurnment will be at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery, Gridley CA
