I first met Stan in 1964 when my family moved to Oroville and attended the Assembly of God church on Pine and Osage. He was the driving force in establishing a group of guys to play in the city Church League basketball competition. We didn't win a lot but we had a lot of fun trying and Stan was always positive and upbeat, a quality that extended to his outlook on life as a whole as attested to by each of the entries on this tribute page. Stan's positive attitude to life and encouragement to others is rare and I am proud to have known him. The world is poorer from his passing but I am richer for having known him

My condolences for your loss! I know firsthand what a great and wonderful man Mr. Huston was! My Grandfather Mr. James (Andy) Anderson and my Grandmother Thelma Anderson used to sing his praises to me all the time! He certainly did light up their lives and for that I am very grateful!!!

You were truly a gentlemen's gentlemen, Stan, and one of the finest men I have had the pleasure to know. Sorry I was unaware of your passing, and memorial service on Dec. 7th for I surely would have been in attendance. A person such as yourself comes along rarely in one's life. May God hold you in his loving care.

So glad to have been a part of Thermalito School District during Stan's tenure. He and Mary Ann were so kind to me as I was beginning my teaching career. I was honored that Stan, Mary Ann, Rick and Lisa trusted me to be the kindergarten teacher for both Melissa and Jason. I so enjoyed Stan's sincere enthusiasm for people, especially the kids.
My warmest thoughts and prayers are with the Huston family.
Much love,
Linda Scott

I loved that Great Uncle Stan was such a champion of education, youth sports, and a supporter of teachers. I'll never forget how enthusiastic he was when I decided to become a teacher - oh how he loved to talk about education! His booming voice and laugh will be missed. Dear Huston family,
We are thinking of you during your time of sorrow. Both David (Boswell) and I have fond memories of growing up in Thermalito with the Hustons: Attending Sierra Avenue School and going to school with the Huston kids. For David: memories of Little League. For me, a special memory of being the flower girl and Ricky being the ring-bearer at my second-cousin's wedding (Laurel Daily).
May the Lord comfort you and keep at this time.
With warmest regards,
Debbie Adams

I am going to miss you my dear brother. You were my hero as we grew-up, you taught me to love baseball, basketball and that real men love Jesus. You had all the talent to fix anything even my first bike at about 3 years old, you painted it red and I loved it. You taught me to catch baseballs before you would let me bat, by bouncing them off my chest and trapping them. It made it easy when you got me a glove. You marked a spot on the old tree out front and gave me your old nailed together bat and had me hit the spot you marked for many hours a day. You were the hardest worker I knew. Every time I thought I could beat you in basketball we play one on one, it always ending up 20 to 12, thanks for letting me score 12. Tell Mom and Dad hi, and I will will see you someday again. Love Darrell
