Heartbroken writing this...I love you pop, and I miss you, and I wish I could hug you, go fishing with you, pick up walnuts and work in your shop with you for one more day. You always believed in me, had faith in me that I never had in myself...you acted like I could do no wrong as a kid. I'll never forget cutting off my own bangs, and you pulling your comb out of your shirt pocket, putting some shaving cream in my hair, and combing them back for me, "that doesn't look too bad, babydoll"... Probably the only person that could have made me feel better about that haircut...always calling me "A gentleman, a scholar, and a judge of good whiskey" <3 you were the best grandpa, and I'm glad you were mine. I wish I had come to see you before it was too late, I was afraid to see you sick, or different than I remembered you, I was afraid you wouldn't remember me. Now I would do anything just to have that chance and I can't...I'm sorry. ..I wish my son had gotten to know you, I will always tell him stories. Sleep easy; and when I see you again someday, I'll tell you everything you missed.
