Obituary of Garth Aaron Ricketts
Garth Aaron Ricketts born in Oroville CA, August 20, 1960 passed away suddenly November 10, 2017. Graduated Oroville High School in 1978. He played football and golf all four years at O.H.S. His senior year the Tigers football team won the E.A.L. championship finishing the season 10-0. The Tiger golf team won the North Section title qualifying for the state. Garth continued to play golf to the end of his life and was very passionate about the game. He was always tweaking his swing trying to improve. He was a die-hard 49ers fan. He loved spending time with family and friends at the Ricketts’ cabin at Lake Madrone. His jovial laugh and unforgettable voice could be heard echoing across the lake. He knew everybody up there and everybody knew him. He worked in the construction industry for 35 years, earning his contractor’s license in the early 1980s. He last worked as a supervisor for BCM Construction in Chico where he was a greatly respected mentor to many young men starting out in the construction business.
Garth is the second son of the late Virgil and Charmaine Ricketts of Oroville. He was preceded in death by his older brother Todd in 1987. Garth is survived by his partner Roxanne Logue, sons Dale and Jay, brother Derk and nephews, Kyle, Eric and Chad in addition to his dogs Cali and Charlie.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 25 First Congreational Church 1715 Bird Street Oroville, CA at 1:00pm.
