Obituary of Leland Samuel Dewsnup

Leland Samuel Dewsnup died peacefully in Gridley, California at the age of 89 on November 7, 2017. Leland is survived by his youngest sister Vonza Gooch of Forest Hills, California, his son Melvin Dewsnup of Gridley, California, his daughter Kathleen Robinson of Canby, Oregon and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Leland was born on October 17, 1928 to George and Orlean Dewsnup of Gridley. He attended the Gridley School system and met his eternal companion Barbara Louise Ponciano and were married. Four children were born and raised Melvyn, Ronny, Chris and Kathleen.

Leland’s work experience included agriculture, equipment operator and truck driver. He loved to work with cattle and horses. Leland was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various capacities. He loved the outdoors, deer hunting in the fall and camping throughout the year were his favorite activities.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 2 p.m., at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Gridley, California. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Orchard Hospital Foundation, 240 Spruce Street, Gridley, California, 95948.
