Obituary of Shannon Chalet Burkholder

Her Legacy… Shannon Chalet Burkholder, born October 2, 1985 in Oroville to mother Linda (Mellor) and father Larry Burkholder, died September 9, 2017, in Chico, California. She was a loving daughter and sister to her family. Shannon nearly always preferred to be outdoors, and that is indeed where she was happiest. Among her favorite activities were hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking on Lake Tahoe. Such was her love for the Tahoe area that she resided there for a number of years. Shannon was also a lover of the arts. On occasions where she could be found indoors, she was likely to be strumming her ukulele, singing, writing poetry, creating her own jewelry, and painting. Her artwork was exhibited on a number of occasions. She was a lover of animals and advocated for their wellbeing and protection. Shannon will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and her contagious smile. 

Her Family… Shannon is survived by her mother, Linda “Skipper” Mellor, her father, Larry Burkholder, her two older brothers, Adam Burkholder and Brandon Burkholder, and her stepfather, Thomas Cunningham. 

Service In Her Honor… A graveside service will be held for Shannon on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd, Oroville, CA. All who wish to attend and honor her are welcome. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home, 530-534-3877.
