Fou Saechao

Obituary of Fou Seng Saechao

His Legacy… Fou Seng Saechao was born on May 10, 1951 in the mountainous region of northern Laos. As a farmer of the Mien hilltribe population, he inherited the mountain life and grew up in Laos as a member of a proud and humble farming family. At the height of the Laotian Civil War in the early 1970s, Fou Seng was recruited by the United States CIA to fight communist forces in Laos. In his early 20s, he was trained alongside other young men from Mien villages as part of special guerrilla units. These military efforts would later be termed the Secret War in Laos. By 1975, the War had come to an end, and Fou Seng and his family emigrated to Thailand as refugees; in 1987, the family was granted permission to emigrate to the US.  Fou Seng worked hard to adjust to American life and provide for his family. At the age of 36, he had learned English and cultivated a new life in the US. As a caring and honorable man, he never forgot about the importance of family. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and children and dedicated time to the outdoors, fishing and hunting. On June 20, 2017, Fou Seng passed away peacefully in his home in Oroville and was surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and the proud father of a son who has served in the United States Army and another who is currently working for the Air Force. His memories will not be forgotten by his family and loved ones.

His Family… Fou Seng is survived by his father, six brothers, wife (Nai Sin), five children (Kao, Lo, Cheng, Sou, Chai), daughter-in-laws (Samantha, Tracy), and seven granddaughters (Caitlin, Sienna, Arianna, Jazzlyn, Sanae, Taeyah, Paige).

His Farewell Service… A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 8:00 am at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson Street, in Oroville, California. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
