Obituary of Denise Jean Peterson

Her Legacy… Denise Jean Peterson of Oroville, California passed away on September 10, 2015. Jean was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on May 2, 1936 to Agnes Olson of Norway and William Woolsey of Nebraska. She met her husband Willard “Pete” Peterson shortly after graduating from high school in Sandpoint. They were married on March 9, 1956 in Thompson Falls, Montana. Jean and Pete and their daughter Debbie moved around the western states while Pete worked on various dam construction projects. They eventually settled in Oroville where they lived for 40 years. Jean worked for many years at Pacific Coast Producers cannery where she made many lifelong friendships. Jean loved to travel. She took many memorable road trips with her daughter Debbie, granddaughter Libbie and her sister Barbara. When at home, Jean and Pete worked in their yard together and made a beautiful home. Jean was also an animal lover, an avid sports fan, and enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. Above all, Jean loved to laugh with her family and friends. We will miss her greatly. Her Family… Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Pete Peterson, daughter Debbie (Brian) Burtenshaw of Oroville, CA; granddaughter Libbie (Will) Scheding of Los Osos, CA; great grandson Jackson Scheding of Los Osos, CA; brother William Woolsey of Billings, MT; sister Barbara Chester of Cedar Rapids. IA; sister Alice Coldsnow of Sandpoint, ID; half-sister Jackie Colburn of Marysville, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Lubbers of Boise, ID.
