Obituary of Zane Gray Caffey
His Legacy… Zane Grey Caffey left his earthly body on June 10, 2017, at the age of 92, to join his beautiful wife of 69 years, Justine Perrien Caffey. Zane was born in Salado, TX to Arthur and Lorena Caffey, along with four sisters and three brothers. He joined the US Navy at 19 years old, and, as he liked to say, spent "two years, nine months and 18 days" serving his country. He belonged to VFW Post 1747. Zane moved to the Oroville area in 1949 and spent most of his adult life in the lumber business. He retired after 30+ years from Las Plumas Lumber. He enjoyed competing in horseshoe tournaments with his brother Bill, playing dominos, and backyard BBQ's with his whole family and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He is remembered for always having a pleasant smile for everyone.
His Family… Zane leaves five children: Donna Hargrove of DeMotte, IN, Cynthia English of Gridley, Christopher Caffey & companion Ginger Simms and Lori Shipp, all of Bowersville, GA, and Tamara (Michael) Balmer of Oroville. Also one sister, Doris Donahue of Boise, ID, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His Farewell Service… Funeral Services will be held July 8th, 2017, 1:00 pm, at Oroville Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately after the service, at Christian Faith Center, 7695 Melvina Ave, Palermo. Arrangements are entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530) 533-0323.
