Obituary of Frederick Robert Ragland

Frederick Robert Ragland July 5, 1940 - June 9, 2017 a life well lived. Fred a Godly man, loving, kind, quiet, very intelligent! Born and educated in San Bernardino, California attended San Jose State and Ohio State earning a Master’s in English. At the age of 11 Fred became the youngest Ham Radio Operator in the San Bernardino area. As a child Fred always wanted to be a sports writer. He loved all sports especially The Dodgers and Nascar Go Jeff Gordon his favorite driver. Joining the Air Force took him on a different career journey. Fred traveled the globe as a Public Relation Officer for 20 years. Retiring from the military Fred kept busy the following 33 years as Director for the Christian Military Fellowship. A service which helps military men and women around the world find Christian Fellowship where ever they are deployed. Fred remains Director Emeritus of CMF. Fred was an avid reader and always made time for his children and grandchildren to crawl upon his lap or sit beside him so he could read to them.

Survived by his wife Georgia Anne, step children Eric and Cindy Ramsey, Clarissa and Bill Ulrey, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Margene Hughes. First wife Leanna, children Ben and Julie Ragland, Fred and Lori Ragland, Mandy and Doug Sweet. Fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father Ben H. Ragland, mother Marjorie Ruotsalainen, step father Howard, uncle and aunt Chuck and Glynis Ragland, step son Philip G. Ramsey, brother-in-law Jack Sargent. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson St. Oroville. Funeral will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Ramsey Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd. Oroville. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
