Obituary of Dorothy E Newman
Dorothy Newman, 83, of Gridley, California passed away on April 15, 2017 at her home due to terminal illness, surrounded by many loved ones.
Dorothy was born in Chico, California to Nora Ida and William “Cap” North. Dorothy was the second of six children. She married John Newman Jr. on June 1, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Liberty one Ward.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nanette Farrow, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild and her brother Alvin North.
She is survived by four children: John Newman II, of Stayton, Oregon, Rory (Angie) Newman, of Cobb, California, Yvonne (Jerry) Scott, of Brookshire, Texas and Ardith (Ray) Arneal, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; ten grandchildren: John Newman III, Kyle Newman, Minden Newman, William VanOsdel, Brandy Gatewood, Emily Duchateau, Raymond Arneal, Angela Hoppe, Aaron and Andrew Farrow; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Juanita Sannar, Beth Brandt, Charla Mallett and Melna Hibbert; sister-in-law, Beverly North and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the Funeral service on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on French Avenue, in Gridley. She will be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon with her husband at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the LDS Missionary Fund.
