Obituary of Robert Luther Hopper
His Legacy… Robert “Bob” Hopper was born on September 22, 1923 in Palermo, California to John and Myrtle Hopper. He went to be with Jesus on March 25, 2017 in Oroville, California. Raised in Palermo Bob attended Palermo Elementary and Oroville High School. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent 33 months in service to his country 30 of those months overseas. He received the Purple Heart for being wounded in action at Leyete Island, Philippines. Bob married the love of his life Betty Barkhaus and they spent the next 70 plus years together. He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
His Family… Bob is survived by his wife Betty Hopper of Oroville, CA; his son Chris (Toni) Hopper of Redmond, OR; two brothers Jack and Martin Hopper, 7 grandchildren, Tracii, Kyle, Kody, David, Kristy, Kelly and Katie, 18 great grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Joan McConnell, and his sister June Ball.
His Farewell Service… A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd. Oroville, CA. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
