Obituary of Paula Wakefield
Paula Yvette Wakefield 61 of Gridley, passed away March 23, 2017 after a courageous short fight with cholangiocarcinoma cancer.
Paula was born on February 29, 1956 in Caldwell Idaho. She was a 1975 graduate of Las Plumas High School. After high school she served a year and a half mission in the Philippines for the LDS church. On March 29, 1980 she married the love of her life, Alan Wakefield in the Oakland Temple. They raised 6 amazing children and have 10 beautiful Grandchildren.
Paula worked for the Oroville Unified High School District as the food service director for 15 years. She was active in the LDS church and was serving as a Sunday school teacher. She loved to travel with her husband Alan. Her favorite place to go was back to Idaho to visit the Walter side of the family. Her interest included crafting, homemaking, sewing, and she loved to make things for others.
Paula loved her large family, especially spending time with her Grandkids. She will be missed dearly as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter-in-law, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Co-worker, and Friend.
In addition to her husband Alan of 37 years, she leaves behind: Audrea Wakefield & Damon Smith (Kinsley, Harlow, & Jett), Janeane & David Lanza (Lauren & Dane), Diana & Derek Elkins (Peyton, Jaxson, & Mylee), Sarah Wakefield & Jeff Ball, Bradley & Hannah Wakefield (Treyson & Lincoln), and Kendall & Amelia Wakefield, Shane Walter, Dixie Thorup, & Becky Walter.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00 at the LDS church 400 Spruce St. in Gridley. A burial will follow at the Oroville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel 530-846-2138.
