Obituary of Susan Marie Wells

Susan Marie Wells, born March 19, 1946 in Los Angeles to Marine Bergeron Leach and Floyd Leach, passed away on March 8, 2017, in her home with love ones by her side. As a child Susan grew up and attended schools in Los Angeles, graduating from LAHS in 1964. After high school Susan attended LACC, Long Beach State College, and later in life, CSU Chico. She worked for Kaiser Healthcare for 10 years before moving to Oroville in 1980, and worked at Wilson Elementary School in Gridley for 25 years. Susan was also a care provider for 16 years for her disabled son, Greg Wells. Her passion was caring for her family, and she never really retired, working as Greg's care provider right up until the day she was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, the most deadly type of brain cancer. In her spare time Susan enjoyed reading and watching her favorite TV shows, and she also loved cooking for her family and guests as well as sewing, crafts, and playing games. She leaves behind her fiancé of 10 years, Rich Whittington; son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Laura Krowel, of El Dorado Hills; son, Greg Wells of Oroville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Roxanne Wells of Chico, and Tom and Sara Whittington, also of Chico. Also, four granddaughters, one nephew, and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased in 2000 by her second husband, Phil Wells, and in 2011 by her stepson, Bill Whittington. Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Oroville Memorial Cemetery starting at 11:00am. After the service ends the family will be having an informal gathering at 66 Gaylor Avenue in Oroville, and everyone is invited to attend to continue celebrating Susan's life. The family encourages stories or memories of Susan to be told. Susan loved the passage from 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and be present with the Lord.” Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
