Obituary of Steve Dennis Silvas

A graveside service will be held on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery for Steve D. Silvas 62, of Oroville, California. Steve passed away Thursday March 2, 2017 in Oroville, CA. He was born on August 2, 1954 in French Camp, CA, one of seven Children born to Joseph and Doris Silvas. He was a longtime resident of Butte County, having worked for the Department of Fish and Game and California State Parks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors, he also enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar and being with his grandchildren. He was a great mentor and teacher, and had the ability to make anyone laugh. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors of America. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Silvas, and one sister Debbie Garewal. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Silvas of Oroville, CA, his two sons, Steve Silvas-Dodson of Gridley, CA, Adam Silvas (Dustie) of Oroville, CA, one daughter Jennifer Carpenter (Shane) of Oroville, CA, 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his mother Doris Silvas of Live Oak, CA, 3 brothers, Joey Silvas of Burney, CA, David Silvas of Idaho, Daniel Silvas of Live Oak, CA, 2 sisters, Sharon Silvas of Antelope, CA, Brenda Lepe of Live Oak, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Wednesday March 8, 2017 from 5 – 8 PM at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery.
