Obituary of Eugene William Ludwig
His Legacy… Gene Ludwig was born on January 8, 1927 in Vesta, Minnesota to Joseph and Katherine Ludwig. Gene died in his home on January 27, 2017 with his family by his side. He met the love of his life Judy Hyatt, and they were married in 1945 and were married for 63 years until her death in 2008. They had three children. Gene served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a firefighter for 35 years, serving as Fire Chief for the Oroville Fire Department for his final 10 years. He was appointed to the job of Oroville City Administrator and worked in this position until he retired. He enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing and most all outdoor activities with his friends and family. Gene never met a person who didn’t like him (unless you were an arsonist or a democrat). He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and one who was always ready & willing to lend a hand for community and friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
His Family… Gene is survived by his son Kent Ludwig of Oroville, CA; seven grandchildren, Shane, Kevin, Kimberly, Melissa, Melanie, Todd & Jamie, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and two sisters Jules & Marge. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his son David Ludwig and his daughter Cindy Estes.
His Farewell Service… A Funeral Service for Gene will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Oroville Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Ave. Oroville, California with Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd. Oroville, CA. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
