Obituary of Sheryl Lee Wood

Her Legacy… Sheryl L. Wood passed away January 19, 2017 in Oroville, she was born February 2, 1945 in Sibley, Iowa to Arnold and Cleatus Gildemeister. In 1964 Sheryl moved to California with her family. Sheryl was a nurse and enjoyed her career of over 40 years with Oroville Hospital. She met and eventually married her best friend W. Leroy Wood (Woody) in 1972. Sheryl was a member of the sheriff’s reserve for several years as well as community Chorus and prior member of the choir at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Paradise. She enjoyed hunting and camping with her husband, family, and friends. She had a passion for various crafts which she created with her many friends; her favorite was working with stained glass. Family and its history was always important to her. She had many close friends who she spent her time with several of which she counted as family. Her Family… Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband W. Leroy Wood, parents, and brother Doug Gildemeister. She is survived by her brother Gary Gildemeister, step-children Christy (Tim) Bradford, Susan (Clay) McDonnell, and Brian Wood. Other family includes sister-in-law’s Rose Gildemeister, Sheryl (Keith) Brann. Nephews Mike (Christy) Gildemeister, Allan (June) Gildemeister, Doug Gildemeister, and Jeff Gildemeister and her niece Laura Drew, grandchildren Jessica (Bryan) Kelly, T.C. (Amanda) Bradford, Travis Wood, Lindsay Wood, and Tanner McDonnell and great granddaughter Brooklyn Kelly. Her Farewell Service… A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 10 Concordia Lane, Oroville, CA. A Private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
