Obituary of Joseph Franklin Mize
His Legacy… Joseph Franklin “Frank” Mize Sr. was called home to the Lord on November 10, 2016. He was 83 years old. Frank was born on August 23, 1933 in Roosevelt, Texas. Frank was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Frank has been a resident of Oroville for the past 55 years. He retired from the City of Oroville Public Works Department after 34 years. In retirement he enjoyed pursuing his favorite hobbies like working in his shop making turkey calls and log cabin bird houses. He also enjoyed playing his harmonica and loved to jam with the Old Time Fiddlers, and watching Jeopardy and Gunsmoke with his wife.
His Family… Frank is survived by the Love of his Life and wife of 61 years, Sharon; his son Joseph (Sharon) Mize Jr.; daughter Kathy Ziemer; sisters Eleanor Jefferson and Sharon (Albert) Snider, brother, Malvin (Sue) Mize, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Judy Wroten, son-in-law Jeff Franklin; grandsons Drew Christensen, Scotty Franklin, Joseph Mize III and Brent (Elizabeth) Mize; granddaughter Jolene Gilman, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Mize, daughter Caroline Franklin, and sisters Blanche Border, Reba Rigby, JoAnn Shelton, Della Payseno and June Mize.
His Farewell Service… A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Thermalito Baptist Church, 1443 10th Street Oroville.
