Obituary of Marty P Kent

Martin Paul  (Marty) Kent, 68, of Oroville, CA, passed away on December 20,2024 in Biggs CA.

Funeral service will be held at 495 Kentucky St., Gridley CA  on 12/30/2024 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Jose Villalobos of The First Presbyterian Church of Gridley officiating.

Marty was born in Loma Linda, CA to Jack and Janet Kent on 10/31/56. He went to high school at Las Plumas High School in Oroville CA and graduated in 1974. He attended Butte College after High School. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for many different companies such as John Deere, CAT, Duke Sherwood Contracting, South Feather Water and Power until his retirement in July of 2021. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with sons at the Casino, camping, spending time with friends. Marty spent his extra time coaching for Biggs Little League coaching his sons and many of the local boys. He also coached his granddaughters in softball for Gridley Little League. Marty was always willing to lend his knowledge and abilities to friends and family that were in need of a mechanic whether it be for their cars or tractors.

Marty is survived by his loving Wife of 48 years, Sharon of Oroville CA. Son’s David (Wife Jocelyn), Kevin (Wife Nicki), daughter Rebecca Villalobos (Husband Jose), grandchildren Dimitri Kent, Cesareo Villalobos, Richard Villalobos, Giovanni Kent, Lorelai Villalobos, Susana Villalobos, Nickolas Kent, Clarissa Kent, Daniel Kent and Great Granddaughter Naomi Kent. His sisters, Gail Hall, Paula Wright, Chris McGee. He is preceded in death by his Father, Jack Kent and mother Janet Kent.

Marty is remembered most for being an amazing husband to his wife, after retirement they traveled to Mexico several times. His legacy is in his children and grandchildren. He loved to pick up his “Papa” duties, picking them up from school, taking them lunch, and attending their sporting events. Marty made many friends at the Golf Course. He enjoyed playing lots and lots of holes at Table Mountain Golf Course.
