Lester J. Shuman, aged 98, passed away on September 21, 2024, at his home in Biggs, CA. He was born August 21, 1926, in Butte City, CA to Alice (Spooner) Shuman, and Charles Shuman, and was the 9th of their 11 children.

He married Patricia Mae McElroy in July of 1945, and they had 4 children together.

He was preceded in death by Patricia in January 2024, and his son Gregory Eugene in June 1977. Lester was also the last of his siblings to pass away.

He is survived by his children David of Orangevale, Dawn of Biggs, Doug of Oroville, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Lester enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served in WWII. After his military service he drove a cement truck for Mathews Ready Mix for 24 years, and farmed walnuts and kiwis at his ranch in Biggs. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. During the winter months he and Patricia would become snowbirds and travel to Arizona.

Graveside service will be held for both Lester and Patricia at 2pm on Friday, September 27th, 2024, at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Potluck to follow at the Colonia Inn in Biggs, CA.
