Obituary of David Jose Enriquez
David Jose Enriquez passed away on August 25, 2024, in Gridley, CA, at the age of 85. Born on June 25, 1939, in Yuba City, CA, David was a man known for his hardworking nature, genuine soul, and playful sense of humor.
David graduated from Biggs High School and shortly thereafter, in 1958, enlisted in the United States Navy, here he served for four years. After his time in the military, he worked for Sunset Moulding Co until his retirement after 30 years.
He loved woodworking and gardening. He spent many hours making beef jerky to share with loved ones. When he wasn’t watching sports on TV he could be found on the soccer greens and little league fields watching his nieces and nephews. He was often in the backyard having a cold Bud light while entertaining his family and adopted friends of Melissa’s.
When you ask his family, they will tell you that he was sarcastic and yet you always knew you were loved. He was the one you called when you were locked out of your house or needed help with a project. He was the first to arrive at a function and the best supervisor on every work site. He loved entertaining the kids by taking out his dentures on occasion swapping with his brother. He convinced a generation that his arm had been cut off in “the war” and was sewn on upside down. Always the prankster and often sharing the family gossip. He loved his family, sweets and Hallmark Christmas in July.
David’s legacy of love and laughter is carried on by his children, David Enriquez Jr. and Melissa Enriquez; three grandchildren; two brothers Cornelio and Miguel; one sister Margarita; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcie Enriquez, after 30 years of marriage, his sisters Elvira Enriquez and Refujio Herrera, his parents Fulencio and Celerina Enriquez and his grandson Antonio Enriquez.
The viewing will be held at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, located at 679 Ohio St., Gridley, CA, on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm, followed by the rosary.
