Obituary of Dennis Duane Diver

Dennis Diver left this world on Monday August 19, 2024.  He was born May 3, 1947 in Santa Rosa, CA where he would graduate from Montgomery High School in 1965.  He then attended Santa Rosa Junior College and worked at A&B Market until deciding to move to Chico, CA where he attended Chico State and graduated in 1972. After this he went to work for the national accounting firm of Price Waterhouse until 1974 when he and his young family decided they had enough of the big city life in Sacramento and returned to Chico.  Here, he went to work for Matson & Isom with whom he became partner and opened the Oroville office in 1979.  Once in Oroville he left his mark on the Oroville community by being involved with service clubs such as Exchange Club and Rotary.  He gave back to his love of the outdoors by being part of the original board of directors for the Table Mountain Trap & Skeet Club and being part of the committee that put on the annual Ducks Unlimited Dinner.  Mixed in with all of this he found time to be a member of the Oroville City Council and serve as Mayor as well.  Later, he would leave Matson & Isom and start his own accounting firm.

Dennis had a deep love for the outdoors that started as a young man diving off the coast for abalone.  Later on, you would find him at the M&R Pheasant Club or hunting ducks in the Richvale area.  If he wasn’t there you would find him in the mountains chasing deer around Laporte or the trout in Little Grass Valley Reservoir.

If you knew Dennis you had to laugh at his deep chuckle and admire his speed and accuracy on a 10 key calculator.

Dennis is survived by his sons Daniel (Stephanie) and Darren; his grandchildren Kobus, Hogan and Kaitlin, his former wife and mother of his children Ginger; and his Jack Russell Terriers KD and Luci.

At his request, no memorial services are planned.  Donations in his memory can be made to the Northwest SPCA or Richvale Booster Club.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877
