Obituary of James Amaro
James Amaro, age 65 of Chico, California, passed away on Friday July 19th.
James Amaro was born on April 14, 1959, Hartford, Connecticut to the late Candido Amaro and Eleanore (Bocage) Amaro. James is the third born of six children.
James possessed an outgoing personality that left a warm and welcoming impression on those who encountered him. At an early age, James attended and joined St. Michael Roman Catholic Church. His biblical upbringing left a lasting impression on his life during which he professed his belief in God and a commitment to strive to serve The Lord.
After graduating from Weaver High School in Hartford Connecticut, James served his country by joining the ranks of the United States Army as a Power Generator Wheel Mechanic in the 46th Engineer Battalion. He also served three years in the Army Reserves. After leaving the military, James worked for the city of Hartford as a mechanic. James enjoyed traveling and trying new things.
To those who knew him best, James was known to be direct and to the point. His charismatic personality and unique gift of gab enabled him to creatively talk his way into and out of any situation. He mastered the art of taking any serious situation and retelling the events in a manner that would have everyone uncontrollably laughing. One of the most important things to James was his unwavering love for his family, friends and a sincere concern for the less fortunate. Growing up as a child of a family that immigrated to the United States from Port Au Prince, Haiti and watching his mother dedicate her life to the service of others had a lasting impression on James. He spoke so highly of his mother and always strived to make her proud. In honor of his mother, James volunteered at various veterans’ hospitals and provided meals to the less fortunate in Chico, California.
James is preceded in death by his parents, father Candido Amaro Sr, mother Eleanore (Bocage)Amaro, and brother Karly Amaro. James leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Brandy Amaro-Collins (Roderick) of Killeen, TX. Additionally, he leaves behind siblings Dorly Goodman of Sacramento, CA; Junior Amaro of Las Vegas, NV; Joyce Amaro of Hartford, CT; and Mary Raylene Amaro of Oroville, CA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brandon Collins of Denton Texas and Niyah Collins of Denton, Texas. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
