Obituary of Janet Katherine Lantsberger

Janet Lantsberger was born on February 3, 1934 in Oroville, California to Marko (Mike) and Rose Evich.  She grew up in a family owned store and restaurant, Table Mountain Market and Table Mountain Tavern.  At age 90 Janet passed away on June 30, 2024.  She had a wonderful 40 plus year marriage to Leo Lantsberger.  They did everything together, including boating, skiing, dancing, and gardening.  She worked at the Butte County Courthouse in the traffic division, then went to work for Pacific Telephone, Pac Bell before retiring from AT&T as a Supervisor.  She also worked at the Tavern.  Janet played clarinet, and was self-taught on the piano.  She could play “Moonlight Sonata”.  She also taught tap, ballet and jazz dancing.  She enjoyed bowling and golf and was fortunate to have made 2 holes-in-ones.  Janet learned how to paint Bob Ross style through her friend/florist Robert Rogers and she did beautiful landscapes.  Janet did many other types of arts and crafts, she loved cooking and baking, and was a seamstress, making clothes for the family; even cutting a pattern from a newspaper to make a shirt for her brother Joe.

As the youngest daughter, I valued my Mom’s wisdom and advice.  We could talk about anything.  She was my friend and my Mother.  Thank you, Prestige Assisted Living in Oroville, for the great comfort and thoughtful care you gave for our Mom.

Janet is survived by her younger brother Phillip Evich, her daughters Terri (Mike) Kjolso, and Kristina (Robert) Roush. Her stepchildren, Paula La Rose and Tom Lantsberger.  Her grandchildren, Shawn, Jamie, Lindsay and Shane.  Great-Grandchildren Halie, Eva, Channah, Leo, Leeland and Aiden, and Great-Great Grandson Levi.  Also her best friend Jane Sherwood.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Leo Lantsberger, her brother Joe Evich and her parents Mike and Rose Evich.

On Thursday July 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM, a Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 1330 Bird Street in Oroville.  She will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
