Obituary of Betty Helen Fleming

Betty Helen Fleming entered into rest Friday, May 24th, 2024 at the age of 91. Her husband Bradford Fleming preceded her in death, entering into rest on April 5th, 2014. Betty was the last of the 15 siblings of the Dwight Hilton Family.

She has 7 surviving children, son, Brad Fleming, daughters, Sharon Anderson, Dianne Gentry, Frances Strang, Mary Griffin, Dorothy West, and Lena Diamond. She has left a legacy of 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and more on the way.

Betty was born in Black Gum Mountain, Oklahoma on July 23rd, 1932. She lived there until the age of 8 when her family moved to Las Vegas in 1940. She married her husband, Bradford Fleming, on December 3rd, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was married for 64 years before becoming a Widow. They made a home in Oroville in the early 1950's. Betty worked at the Oroville Cannery before she had children. She started her family and had 4 children from 1953 to 1956, and also took care of her mother until her death in 1959. Betty had 3 more children from 1963 to 1969. Betty was a homemaker who had many talents, gardening, canning, sewing, furniture upholstery, and carpentry skills. She cared for her husband and children the best she could with those abilities. She instilled her faith in God to her children. She loved reading, going to yard sales and thrift stores, and playing card games with her family. She loved having family gatherings in her home. In the 1990's she went to work for Salvation Army Thrift Store in Oroville, and worked there until her retirement in the early 2000's. She enjoyed trips to see her family in Las Vegas, and made several trips to Oklahoma to visit family.

She was very active in taking care of her yard after her husband passed away and enjoyed her rose garden, and loved having her two beloved dogs Walter and Gracie by her side.

Betty will be missed by all of her family. They are grateful for the years they had with her.
