Obituary of Kenneth Evans Olson

Kenneth E. Olson, 91 of Gridley passed away on December 11, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 17, 1932, in Aurora, Illinois to Percy and Dorothy Olson.


Ken graduated from Yorkville High School, Northern Illinois University and was a four-year veteran of the US Air Force. The last base of his service was Beale AFB which brought his family to Gridley, California, and was hired by Sunset Moulding Co. of Live Oak as sales manager retiring as president of the corporation after 38 years.


A very active parent with his 3 sons in 4-H, FFA, youth sport leadership and school events. Serving the Gridley District School Board for 37 years.


Ken was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandparent and is truly missed. He is survived by his wife Nancy of 71 years, sons Gary (Linda) and Steven. 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Arron), Randy (Kim), Tyler, Stacy (Matt), Keri (Pillo). 8 great-grandchildren: Paige, Destiny, Hailey, Averie, Turner, Hayden, P.J., Arabela, and 2 great-great-granddaughters: Aila and Everlie. A brother Alvin (Pat) of Gridley. Local nephews and nieces, Brian (Stephany), Brad (Ashley), Bret, Beth (Lennie). In New Mexico: Walter (Dora), Kevin, Mike (Judy), Lisa, Lee-anne, Kim (Mike).


Preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Manley Whitford, son Eric, brother Harold and nephew Kerry.


A family burial will be held at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 from 11-3 at the Yuba City Moose Lodge at 205 S. Walton Ave. Donations may be made to the Gridley Education Foundation at 429 Magnolia St. Gridley, CA 95948 in care of C. McIntire, or charity of choice.


The family appreciates and thankful for the assistance and love from Dr. Bowers, Butte Hospice and Enloe Hospice, during Ken’s health battle. Special thank you to all the kind adults and youth that offered assistance while ken was out in the local area.
