Obituary of Jean Robinson

Clara Jeanette "Jean" Robinson, 92, died peacefully on Thursday December 7, 2023 in Oroville, Ca.

The 5th of nine children, Jean was born on December 16th, 1930 to Oscar and Jewell (Hays) Tweet in Adams County, North Dakota. In 1942, her family moved to Spokane, WA. In 1948, Jean belonged to a girl’s club, Theta Rho, which encouraged the girls to attend a dinner and dance for the service men stationed at nearby military bases. Not quite 18, Jean was not keen on going and tried to miss the bus sent to provide transportation for the girls. She did not know that military buses were usually sent late! As fate would have it, she met her future husband, Phillip L. Robinson at that dance. They married in 1949 after she graduated from Spokane's North Central High School.

During her husband's Air Force career and after his retirement, they lived in several states, eventually making their home in Oroville, Ca in 1978. Jean was employed at ‘City of Paris’ from 1980 to 1991, was a member of the Monday Club, TOPS, as well as a volunteer for Oroville Friends of the Library. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, with a heartfelt kindness that extended beyond her immediate family.

Jean is survived by her daughters Denise (Terry) Tye, and Dianne (Max) Bartmess; her sons Mitch (Mary) Robinson, Jayce (Donna) Robinson, Joel (Evelyn) Robinson, and foster son Carmen (Naomi) Taylor. Her brother martin Tweet and sister Esther (Tweet) Miller; her 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Phillip Robinson, her grandson Jerome Phillip Kleames, her daughter-in-law Laura Tigert Robinson, her brother John Tweet, and sisters Mary (Tweet) Thompson, Chris (Tweet) Henderson, Martha (Tweet) Banks, and life long friends, Stan and Georgia Beach. Her family will have a private gathering to celebrate her beautiful life.
