Obituary of Alice Joyce Storm

Alice Joyce Buckner Storm

A private family service was held on Monday, November 6th for Alice Storm. Alice passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2023. She was 93 years old.

Alcie was born April 14, 1930, in Glendale, California where she lived with her parents, Paul and Joyce Buckner and her two younger brothers until she was 16. Her father, an avid hunter and fisherman, relocated the family to Biggs, California in 1946. She graduated from Biggs High School in 1948 and was introduced to her future husband, Richard Storm, by her high school friend, Betty Lou Hale, who was to marry Richard’s brother, Robert. They would all remain fast friends and lose family for the duration of their lives together.

Alice and Richard were married November 25, 1951, right before Richard was assigned to army basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia. Their first child was born there in 1952 and they were back in Gridley by 1954. They bought a home there and began to grow their family. They had three more children while they expanded the farming operation and remained active in their community for over 50 years.

Alice was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 56 years. She is survived by four children, Paula von Husen, Patrice Taylor, Terrell (Karen) Storm and Brett (Tinker) Storm as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She once said that her children were her greatest joy. She was a creative soul full of wit, charm, and determination. Hers was a life well lived, filled with family and friends and so much love. She will be missed.

Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
