Obituary of Doris Libby

Doris Ann Libby was born on March 31,1936 in Turlock, CA to Ted and Grace Schendel. On July 27, 2023, Doris ended her journey here on earth after 87 years.  She is now home in heaven with her Lord and Savior! She was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great grandma.Doris married Ronald Libby in 1954. They moved to Oroville CA in 1967.  She worked for the California Department of Forestry and  the State Parks and Recreation for over 20 years.

One of Doris’ loves was playing the piano which she did so beautifully. She was very involved in playing the piano and organ for her church. She played for the Oroville Community Band and Choir for many years. She loved spending time with her family, friends ,and serving others such as being a pink lady for Oroville Hospital. Doris and her husband loved traveling across the world as volunteer missionaries to Papua New Guinea, Africa and various others places. RVing with her husband and friends was another favorite pastime. She also enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Sacramento Kings!

The surviving family consists of her sons Don (Lynn) Libby of Washoe Valley, NV; Dan (Denise) Libby of Oroville, CA; and daughter Colleen (Steve) Slaight of Lincoln, NE; her 7 grandchildren and spouses; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by husband Ron and her parents.The family wishes to invite all to celebrate Doris' life on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Oroville Church of the Nazarene on 2238 Monte Vista Ave. A memorial fund has been set up in Doris’ honor. All donations will go to the Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea. Please send your contribution to the Nazarene church and indicate on memo line Doris Libby Memorial Fund.
