Obituary of Olga Lucille Mattos

Olga Lucille Mattos was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, and friend to many during her incredible 95 years of life. She passed away peacefully in Gridley, California, in the early hours of April 27, 2023. She was born in Crows Landing, California on March 28, 1928.

She married George Mattos on April 17, 1948, in Gustine, California. Olga and George relocated to Butte County where they spent their years raising four boys. Olga worked for the cannery in Gridley until she retired in 1996. Later in life Olga enjoyed spending her time attending her grandchildren’s activities and having lunches with her many friends.

She is survived by children Gary and Mandy Mattos, George and Sandy Mattos, and Doreen Mattos; grandchildren John and Marlee Mattos, Lori Mattos, Mallory and Bodi Dodds, Dillan Mattos, and Cole Mattos; great grandchildren Kendall and Easton Mattos and Jakob Hungerford. She will also leave numerous nephews, nieces, and friends who will dearly miss her.

Olga is preceded in death by her husband George Mattos; sons Larry and Rick Mattos; parents Ricardo and Amelia Macedo; and siblings Joseph Macedo, Mary Macedo, Angie Ventura, and Lloyd Macedo.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 6-7 p.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. A mass will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a burial following at the Gridley- Biggs Cemetery.
