Obituary of Romelda Catherine Worden

Romelda “Romie” Catherine Worden, of Oroville, CA, passed away on March 4, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Romie was born on March 10, 1944 in Pima County, Arizona on the Tohono O’Odham Reservation to her mother Amelia Valdez.  After graduating from San Xavier Catholic School, she moved to New York to pursue a career in radiology, then worked at UC San Francisco Medical Center.  The remainder of her 30 year career specialized in  mammography at Northstate Radiology in Chico, CA.

Romie met Paul Eugene Worden in San Francisco and they married on August 4, 1968, in Reno, NV.  They happily welcomed their first son, Theodore on 8/14/1970 and their second son, Scott on their anniversary, 8/4/1972.  She adored her handsome guys.

Romie loved traveling, tennis, and spending time with her family and friends.  She and Paul hiked Mount Whitney once a year, the family visited the Tohono O’Odham Reservation often, watched her guys run the Bay to Breakers. Romie loved playing tennis at The OroWest Raquetball Club and Bedrock.  She enjoyed traveling to New York and San Francisco to watch musicals and hit the slots in Las Vegas.  When the grandchildren came along, they were her life.  She spoiled them with their favorite treats, cheered them on in sports, snapped millions of pictures, shared her thrift store treasures and loved them beyond measure.

Romie has reunited with her beloved husband who passed in 2009. She is survived by sons Ted and Scott Worden; daughter-in-law, Shauna Worden; and four grandchildren: Takoda, Hagen, Avielle and Te’a Worden.
