Obituary of Marion Elmer Byers

A Graveside Service were held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Marion “Al” Byers, 79, of Biggs, CA. Al passed away, July 6, 2016 in Chico, CA. after a brief illness. He was born July 4, 1937 in Bloom, WI to Herbert and Edna Byers and was a long time resident of the Biggs-Gridley area. Al owned and operated Knox Auto Repair, Ice Burgie and Byers Auction in Biggs, CA. He enjoyed hunting, camping and Goldwing Trike riding. He also loved his dogs Midget and Coco. Al served his country proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Japan. He served as the local VFW Commander for ten years and was also a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Good Sam’s Club and a longtime member of the LDS church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Al is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Byers of Biggs, 3 sons, Robert Byers of Ft. Bragg, CA, Allen (Ethel) Byers of Biggs, Daniel (Shellie) of Rapid City, SD and 2 daughters, Lynne (Brad) Spencer of Gridley, Barbara (Robert) Escovedo of Yuba City, CA, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Family suggests contributions be made to the VFW.
