Obituary of Bernice Monin
Her Legacy…Bernice Monin, born February 28, 1922, in San Francisco to Hilda and Jack Berel, died June 18, 2016, in her Oroville home surrounded by her daughters. For 66 years, she was the adored wife of Victor Monin who preceded her in death. As a young wife, she lived in San Francisco, began her family, and then moved to Pacifica, California, where she raised her four daughters and became a dedicated member of local PTAs. Since 1989, her Oroville home has been her treasured domain. Bernice will be remembered for her charm and affection. She was happiest sharing conversation with family and friends. Those who loved her will reminisce over the homemade aprons she personally created, her graceful handwriting, her endearing prose, her passion for the SF Giants, and the family stories she told.
Her Family…Bernice is survived by her four daughters, Merlyn Potters, Pamela Monin, Denise Wright, and Kelly Rose; her six grandchildren, Kevin Carroll, Kenneth Carroll, Noel Monin, Jon Wright, Julee Wright, and Kyla Rose; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Carroll, Trevor Carroll, and Olivia Monin.
Her Farewell Service… A celebration of Bernice's life will be Saturday, July 2, 2016, 11 a.m. at Oroville Funeral Home, 1454 Montgomery Street, Oroville, CA. Bernice will be laid to rest next to her husband during a private burial at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon California. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to Paradise Hospice, 530-877-8755.
