Celebration of Life
Obituary of Myrna Lea Paul
We are deeply saddened to share that Myrna Lea Paul peacefully passed away the evening of July 7, 2022, in the company of friends and family.
Myrna was born November 24, 1937 in Watsonville, CA; she was 84 years old. She spent the majority of her childhood in Red Bluff, graduating early from Red Bluff High School, and bluffing her way into an administrative position at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento while still a minor. She was a competitive bowler and pool player, and co-owner of a bar in Sacramento, where she met her husband of 55 years, Arlan Paul. In 1977, they sold their home in Citrus Heights, and moved to farm property in Indian Valley, where Arlan spent the next couple of years building their family home, and in which they raised their children, hosted a menagerie of animals, and tended a productive family garden. She loved her trips to Reno with her parents and friends, and in her later years, took many road trips, exploring extensively throughout the Western United States.
Myrna returned to the workforce in the nursing profession, working her way up from Nurse’s Aide, to CNA, EMT, and eventually to LVN, graduating as the top student in her program at Lassen College. She spent many years caring for the long term residents of the Indian Valley and Seneca hospitals, retiring in 1998, but continuing to work on call for a number of additional years.
She is survived by her husband, Arlan Paul, children Christopher, Andria, Brian, son-in-law Joe, and grandchildren Natalie, Addison, Jaclyn, Branson and Ethan, and was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry and Maxine McLaughlin of Quincy, and her brothers, Patrick and Danny McLaughlin, also of Plumas County.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Chico at the Springfield Manor clubhouse, 2050 Springfield Drive, Chico, CA at Noon for a potluck meal and time of remembrance at 1:00pm at which all who knew Myrna are welcome to attend.
