Obituary of Agnes Ann McDonell

A service for Agnes Ann McDonell, 88, of Biggs, California will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Gridley. Agnes passed away on Monday May 16, 2022, at Orchard Hospital in Gridley. She was born in Paradise on November 6, 1933, to Harold R. Pearce and Gladys Reynolds Pearce. Agnes lived in Paradise until her marriage to Patrick McDonell in 1950 when she moved to Biggs. Agnes was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Biggs and later the First Baptist Church of Gridley. She enjoyed writing articles for the local paper The Biggs News, was active in the parent teacher association while her children were in school, baked and decorated many birthday, wedding, and other occasion cakes, made numerous quilts, and found pleasure in many crafts. She enjoyed gardening and was a great help to her husband on the family farm. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Pat of 58 years of marriage, her parents and her brother, Howard Pearce. She is survived by her sister Evelyn Strachan of Oroville, her sister Gloria Rhoads of Wheaton, Illinois, her sister-in-law Marilyn Spartz of Sacramento, her son, Michael McDonell of Biggs, daughter, Sharen Lindberg of Biggs, grandchildren, Kelly (Drew) Doughtie of Biggs, Tom (Jessica) McDonell of Oroville, Christopher (Stephany) McDonell of Biggs, Annarose Mitchell of Santa Barbara, Arthur Lindberg of Oroville, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family and many friends she has made over the years. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
