Obituary of Joseph Raymond Jones

His Legacy: Joe Jones was born on October 17, 1930 in Oroville, California born to Alonzo and Mary Jones. Joe passed away on March 18, 2022 in Roseville, California. He married the love of his life Jody in 1953. He was honored to serve his country in the United States Navy Dec 15, 1950 – Oct 8, 1954 on USS James E. Kyes. He was a beloved father, Papa and Great Grandfather (Pop), as well as a brother and uncle. He loved all sports and admired the art of playing and coaching baseball and cherished the times coaching his sons and grandsons. He touched the lives of many people. He enjoyed and excelled in refereeing basketball and football. He treasured every moment in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and running a trap line with Chet and Pat. He loved his work for Pacific Bell and AT&T for 30 years. Most of all he loved and admired all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participating in every sporting event, practices, graduations, special occasions and holidays. His Family; Joe is survived by his wife Jody and his children – Greg and Helen Jones of Oroville; Doug and Vickie Jones of Chico, and Cindy and Pat Tavelli of Oroville, Grandchildren Angelo and Emilee Tavelli, Josh Tavelli and Stacy Geach, Skylar and Ida Jones, Lisa and Bill Snyder, Stephanie and Pat Skuse, Julie and Eli Harris, Shawnae and Tom Coddington, and Zeni Bradford, 10 Great Grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Joe is proceeded in death by his parents Alonzo and Mary Jones, his sister Mertez Ramsey and brother Bud Jones. His Farewell Service – Joe’s Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 10:30am at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson St. Oroville.
