Obituary of Susan Lynn Porter
Gridley, California - Susan Lynn Porter was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022, at the age of 76.
Susan was born on September 3, 1945, in Alameda, California to Malcolm W. Beaty and Mary Beaty. She was the youngest of three girls and was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Jeanne Gurley and Shirley Amos. Susan grew up in Alameda where she met her husband Blair Porter in grade school. They married in Reno, Nevada on February 27, 1966. After living in Washington briefly they settled in Tracy, California to raise their sons, Kurt and Chad. As retirement neared, the family relocated to Gridley, California.
Susan enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, always looking for new recipes to try but never forgetting to make the comfort food her family was raised on. She loved taking trips to the Oregon Coast and Lake Almanor, and on occasion her beloved parrot, Gabby, would get to join them. Susan’s creativity and artistic eye was evident in the quilts she made. She had a true passion for quilting and the sewing room to prove it!
Susan’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Blair Porter; her two sons Kurt Porter and Chad Porter (Alison Porter); her four grandsons: Kade, Kooper, Tyler and Matthew; her only granddaughter: Sydney.
Susan will be laid to rest at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery during a private ceremony. Friends and family of Susan are invited to a Celebration of Life on March 26, 2022 at 11 am at the Porter Family residence, 1125 Gridley Avenue, Gridley, California.
