Obituary of Christopher Andrew Skaggs

Christopher Andrew Skaggs was born November 30, 1982 in Yuba City, California to Dan and Joyce Skaggs. Chris passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022 in Sacramento, California after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. Chris attended Gridley schools and graduated from Gridley High School in 2001. He went on to attend Butte College and California State University, Chico. Chris worked with his dad in the family business, Dan Skaggs Auto Care Center, and later went on to run the business himself. His longtime interest in computer science eventually took Chris back to college, and he went on to work for Alliant Networking, Inc. in Yuba City, CA. Chris was a beloved husband to Melissa Jenkins. After almost 10 years together they were married on January 31, 2018. Chris enjoyed quiet times with Melissa, and the two spent time camping and backpacking in the mountains along with their dogs, Buddy and Lily. Chris always enjoyed the mountains and grew up spending time with his family at their cabin near La Porte, CA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling was a favorite sport. Chris is survived by his wife, Melissa Jenkins, his parents, Dan and Joyce Skaggs, his sister, Ashley Salisbury and her husband Shawn, his niece, Addison, his nephew, AJ, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. Chris was preceded in death by his sister, Amy Lynn Skaggs, and his grandparents, Bennie and Otilla Skaggs and Lester and Evelyn Helmers. There will be a casual Celebration of Life barbecue for all who want to honor Chris on Saturday, March 5th at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Avenue, Yuba City, beginning at 12:00. To honor Chris’ memory and keep his loved ones safe, his wife requests that all guests be vaccinated or have a negative COVID test within 72 hours. A private graveside service was held previously at the Gridley-Biggs District Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
