Obituary of Nicholas Frank Appuglies
Nick Frank Appuglies 85, passed away on January 6, 2022. He was originally from Saratoga/San Jose, California area. He married Sheridan Fay Barrett Appulies and they had 3 children; Sue , Michelle and Nick Jr. Nick was loved by his family, he was the big brother we looked up to, literally at 6'4. He was an amazing center fielder, not only could he hit the ball a mile, he could throw from deep center to home plate on the fly. Nick was in the grocery business at the age of 18 years old. He owned and operated his own grocery store by the age of 35 in Menlo Park, and eventually owned multiple stores. He was loved by his grocery store customers. He developed people skills early in life while working with the public and knew the value of "The Customer is Always Right". He always went out of his way to please. Nick enjoyed water-skiing, bowling, and traveling. He loved baseball, Oakland A's; and football. He attended a couple of Super Bowl games. He was an Oakland Raider and Kansas city and 49er fan. Nick cared deeply for his family, his love was sincere and pure.
Nick is survived by daughters Sue Buhler (Dennis), Michelle Skerce (Steve), his 6 grandchildren Phillip and Nick Buhler, Kristina, Cory, Kayleigh and Justin Skerce. His brother - whom he couldn't live without Jim Potestio - his sister Debbie Potestio Behne and brother David Potestio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grate nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his wife Sherian Appuglies, his mother Gertrude Potestio and his son Nick Appuglies Jr.
