Obituary of Louella Corline Francis

Corky Francis a resident of Gridley California, passed away Friday October 8th, 2021, at her home. She was born April 11, 1947, to Louis and Eilene Francis in Oroville and she was a resident of Gridley for most of her life. She graduated from Gridley High School in 1965 and after high school, Corky attended Job Corps in Astoria, Oregon. After Job Corps, she moved to Washington State where she attended and graduated from Cosmetology School. While going to school, Corky worked at a Wig Shop in South Tacoma at the Lakewood Mall. After graduating, Corky moved back to Gridley, where she started working as a hairdresser at Lavonda's Beauty Salon on Kentucky Street, later working at Manor House, until she was able to open her own shop in August of 1979, Corky's Hair Cottage, which was a thriving business for 35 years until it closed its doors in 2014. Corky was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and was also a member of Quota for over 10 years. Corky was a very loving and generous person who generously and freely gave her time and energy to her family and community. She was always there when she was needed and took her charity work very seriously. She was loved and will be missed by many. She was the Matriarch of her family and cherished by all. Corky was preceded in death by her mother Eilene White, father Louis Francis and brother Louis Edward. She is survived by her children Shanna Miller and Les (Bubba) Crabtree, son-in-law Thomas, daughter-in-law Vanessa, grandson Jay, her brothers Dan Francis, Regi Hugi, and her sisters, Sue Salyer and Gloria Crabtree. She had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. All of them, old and young, adored their Aunt Corky and have great memories of spending time with her. She spent many hours with them taking them skating, shopping, playing games, going to the movies, and creating great memories. Corky had many beloved friends she enjoyed spending time with. She loved to play bingo and travel with her friends going on many cruises and vacations. She loved to garden and had an amazing green thumb. Corky was an avid reader and spent many hours reading in the shade on her beautiful garden patio. She had a wonderful eye for design and loved to decorate. She shared her talents with others and enjoyed doing what she loved. A Celebration of life will be held on Monday October 18th 2021 at 10:00 am at The Gridley Biggs Cemetery by the Gazebo with a reception to follow at the Moose Lodge. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
