Obituary of June M Longley
Her Legacy…. June Marian Longley was born June 12, 1922 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia to George and Louisa Roberts. June passed away on April 13, 2016 at Oroville Hospital following a stroke, with her son at her bedside. A World War II war bride, she married American sailor Dana O. Longley after the war on August 16, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. They were married 45 years before Dana passed away in 1992. June was a homemaker for more than 50 years while looking after their son Rick. The couple lived in Watsonville for many years before moving to a larger horse farm in Valley Springs, in Calaveras County in 1976. They moved to Oroville in 1984. June was an artist whose drawings and paintings won awards at the Butte County and Silver Dollar Fairs. She and her husband also raised quarter horses for more than 40 years taking them to horse shows and fairs throughout California. She also loved gardening and the family cats and dogs.
Her Family…. June is survived by her son Rick of Oroville and nieces Colleen Bradley and Margot Sincock and nephew Peter McCormack all of Australia. She was a cherished Mother and Aunt who will be missed by many Australian family members.
Her Farewell…. June was buried next to her husband Dana, at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park in Watsonville, California. No services were held, but she is now reunited with her husband and at peace.
