Gerald Quist

Obituary of Gerald Wilford Quist

Beloved by family and friends, Gerald Quist peacefully passed away on the afternoon of August 8th. He had been struggling with dementia, and looked forward to seeing other loved ones who passed on before him. Gerald was born in Gridley, California on June 23rd in 1939 to Royal Wilford Quist and Marjorie Quist (née Smith), along with seven siblings. He graduated from Gridley High School in 1958, and married Cassandra Quist (née Chittock), and had five children: Theron, Leticia, Le Ila, Brent and Christina. He worked several jobs, eventually becoming a general contractor. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he loved to share his testimony of his Redeemer, Jesus Christ. He served a mission in Texas with his second wife Lea, and always enjoyed interacting with Spanish-speaking friends. Toward the end of his life he was sometimes called “the walking man” because he would walk up and down French Avenue to enjoy getting outdoors. He eventually passed in hospice in Salt Lake City on August 8th. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 at the Block Funeral Chapel, and his funeral will be the following day at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 1259 French Avenue at 10:00am.
