Obituary of Jon Fredrick Hoffman

His Legacy… Jon Fredrick Hoffman was born on July 26, 1939 in Fort Bragg, California. He was the youngest of Gus and Gudrun Hoffman immigrated from Sweden and Gudrun from Norway. Jon was a 1st generation American. Jon graduated from San Jose State University with a BS and a Master’s Degree in Political Science. He became an Adult Probation Officer for Santa Clara County. While working, he continued his education at Lincoln Law University graduating with a Doctorate Degree in Law. He has practiced law for over 44 years. He moved to Butte County in 1991 with his wife, Jane Starling. He joined RCIA at St. Thomas Church and became a Catholic in 1992. He joined the Knights of Columbus and became a 3rd degree and then a 4th degree Knight. He built a Santa Maria replica that was featured in parades. Jon passed away from heart failure, but his heart never failed to love. He will be greatly missed by his family, wife, and community. His Family… He was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Jane Starling, for 40 years. He is survived by 4 sons, Kirkman Hoffman, Alfred Hoffman, Michael Reid, and James Hoffman, a son who is with him in heaven. He is also loved by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Eli, Anna, Sam, Valentine, Soren, Isaak, Wolfgang, Clementine and Rosemont. He loved all of them immensely. His Farewell Service… A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1330 Bird Street, Oroville, CA. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Thomas the Apostle School, an institution important to Jon Hoffman. Arrangements are entrusted t o Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
