Obituary of Rita Rae Call Muncy

Rita Rae Muncy passed away in Aurora, CO on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the age of 85. Born on July 15, 1936 in Gridley, CA to Lester and Mildred Call, Rita was the third of six children. She married Charles William Muncy on July 8, 1958 in the Logan, Utah LDS temple, and they spent 51 happy years together until his passing on August 1, 2009. Rita was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and served in various callings. She was a loving wife and mother of eight, a doting grandmother of 31 and great-grandmother to 33. She loved music and singing and often tried to instill a love for music in her many children. Rita also loved to travel, though she never made it as far, nor to as many places as she would have liked. Being the matriarch to a large family kept her busy, and she kept everyone on their toes. Having a zest for life, Rita enjoyed being around people and telling stories and just being in the moment. She loved to send gifts to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never wanting anything in return except hugs and kisses. Rita passed away peacefully at the home of her oldest son Brandon with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles and her sisters Joyce, Joann, and Ronnie. Rita is survived by her two brothers, Rodger Call and Tod Call (Sue), and her eight children, Brandon (Nancy), Kelly (Linda), Leslie, Darin (Linda), Craig (Heidi), Dirk (Ivana), Dana Martinez (Henry), and Eric (Pontip), and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery in Gridley, CA on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 am. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 530-846-2138.
