Obituary of John LeRoy Prehn

His Legacy… John, 77, passed away in Oroville, California on July 6, 2021. John was a former resident of Paradise, California for over 40 years. He was born on January 10, 1944 in Oroville, California. John retired from PG&E after 45 years as a Ditch Tender (The Head Dam, in Desabla) and Lake Tender (Pit 5 Power House, Montgomery Creek, CA). He loved hunting and fishing and belonged to the Redding Gun Club. He participated in Pistol matches for several years. Later in life because of health reason, John turned to cribbage and joined the Senior Center and Grass Roots Cribbage in Paradise, Chico and Oroville. His Family… He is survived by his daughter, Janet (Kenneth) Taylor of Burbank, Washington. He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Leroy Prehn, his parents, Dorothy and Step fathers, Leo Henson and Hank Kolar, his grandparents Archie and Edna (Gunter) Prehn, his niece Elnora Gilman and nephew Melvin Gilman. His Farewell Service… John will be laid to rest on Monday July 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Paradise Cemetery, in Paradise, California. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
