Obituary of Alicia Francis Bowling

Alicia Francis Bowling, 73, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday May 19, 2021. Alicia was born April 16, 1948 in Orange, CA to Samuel and Alicia (Arnold) Francis. She married Bruce Bowling on November 26, 1969 in the Los Angeles Temple. Alicia grew up in the orange groves of Tustin, CA. She was the second of nine kids and they all remember what a fun sister she was. She attended BYU where she met the love of her life, Bruce. They were married for 46 years before his death in 2016. She dedicated her life to her family and her church. Alicia spent most of her spare time in her garden and always had a love of plants and flowers. She also enjoyed painting. She worked with the Cub Scouts for many years and earned the Silver Beaver award. Alicia served many years as the Booster Club president at Manzanita school and was a proud member of Focus in her later years. Alicia served in many positions within her church but she especially loved working with the young women, members of the Hmong Branch, serving in the Sacramento Temple and serving a mission with her husband in Little Rock, AR. Alicia was an amazingly fun and loving mother and grandmother who always made sure to share her love of her Savior with her family. She is survived by her children Sherrie (Steven) Jensen of Woodland, CA; Douglas (Charmayne) Bowling of Salem, OR; Richard (Lisa) Bowling of Rancho Cordova, CA; Dave (Jessica) Bowling of Gridley, CA; Anne (Craig) McDowell of Erie, CO; Bob (EmmaLee) Bowling of Gridley, CA; and her 15 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gridley Stake Center, 400 Spruce Street Gridley, CA. Those not able to attend may join via Zoom.
