Obituary of Jose Cruz De La Torre

Jose Cruz De La Torre, age 69, of Biggs, Ca passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2021. He was well known for his big personality, quick wit, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit. Giving back to the community as a restaurateur was one of his greatest joys in life. Jose was drafted during the Vietnam War and served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. Serving his country was an especially revered honor to him and he made it a point to support Veteran causes as much as possible. He was also a gracious supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Los Angeles Mission. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Juan; his mother, Esther; and his son, Pedro. He is survived by his two children, Macrino and Melissa; his sisters, Petra, Valentina, Lupe, and Luz; his brothers, Pedro, Onesimo, Juan, and Mariano; and many nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
